Cynthia Shako Early Childhood Education & Daycare Centre
Cynthia Shako Early Education Childhood & Daycare Centre, was once the Farm House on the Farm School. The building was the home of Farm Manager Rodrick Ameil and his wife Muriel Ameil where their son Dr Keith Amiel spent most of his childhood years (Sangster, 2011,p 9). In 1993 when the institution was established it operated under the name Cynthia Shako Daycare Centre. Nurse Cynthia Shako was inspired to open the Centre to facilitate students who needed a safe place for their children to stay while they attended classes. The Centre now a part of UTech's College of Health Sciences caters to children three months to three years old and has extended its services to UTech staff members along with aftercare and a summer school program offered to the general public ("Cynthia Shako Early Childhood Education and Daycare Centre, n.d.).
